There is something about this time of the year that always makes me feel a little nostalgic, reflective, like it’s it end of something.
My “new year” has always been in September, maybe because I’ve only stopped my formal education less than two years ago before becoming a teacher. So this time around, holding my newborn baby, you can understand why all these feelings might feel a little stronger.
Writing, in my journal and/or on my blog helps me hold the time still for a few minutes, engraving memories, making it last. And that’s exactly what I’m doing right now because I wish I could remember every second of this very summer, the best one of my life.
Do you ever have this feeling that it is all almost perfect? That perhaps, it is too good? Too good to be true?
I’ve been feeling this way for a while now and I guess that’s a good thing. People to love and care for, robust health and many small but big reasons to feel content and grateful about the day-to-day. What else is there?
So, as my “new year” approches, I’ve been reflecting on what I’d like to focus on.

#1 Prioritizing my family
My family has always been extremely important to me, but this word takes a whole new meaning now that my husband and I got blessed with our son. While I’ve taken on this role with ease(ish) and joy, it’s still pretty wild to me that I am a mom: We are now responsible for our baby’s childhood, creating fun traditions, being intentional with our choices, laying the foundation for his first year of life!

#2 Taking care of myself
Unlike the general discourse, I’ve never believed that suffering is a normal or acceptable part of marriage or motherhood. Sacrifice? Compromise? Sure. But I also want to make sure I care for myself, especially in this season. Lately, it meant not skipping showers, stretching, asking for help when needed and reading when my baby is sleeping on me!

#3 Traveling
My little family and I *ahhhhhh* have a few trips planned and I’m reeeeally excited! We love traveling and there is no reason to stop now that our little one is finally here, quite the opposite!
#4 Knitting
If you know me or if you’re familiar with the blog you know that I started knitting a little while ago, sadly I’ve lacked consistency and lost interest tbh. But I really want to get back to it! My idea is to practice my stitches for a while and then start with a simple yet adorable project for my son (did I tell you I’m a mom now? lol)
#5 Getting my strength back
When I got pregnant I was in the best shape of my life. I felt good, I felt strong. After a horrible first trimester, I deserted the gym and while I was still super active (walking like a crazy lady till week 40) my core (and arms) aren’t what they used to be, obviously. Now, the idea is not to bounce back to look my best by September but I’d love to slowly get my core strength back, run again & find time to move more. I know it won’t be an easy task, but it’s an important one!
And that’s pretty much it. Leaving space for uncertainty and hoping for the best is my plan. I can’t wait to see what 2026-2027 has in store for me! 💌

Nothing fosters creativity and gets my thoughts going like a good playlist. And these days, my playlists all include Noah Kahan. Beautiful End of August,
