Cozy Sunday Routine

Hello there!

I hope you are well. I’m so happy to be back!

I’ve been extra busy lately, like I mentioned in my last post, so it’s nice to sit down and write to you.

This week-end we’ve moved into a new apartment, so yesterday was an intense unpacking day with A. But we’re finally settled, and we both decided to enjoy our Sunday and rest. I’m usually not free on Sundays; I work most of the time, so my ‘cozy self-care day’ will depend on my work roster and my university timetable.

I like to dedicate one afternoon a week to unwind and take care of myself, whatever that means each week. But life gets busy, and it’s not always possible to find a moment to do so. What I am trying to say here is that this will look different for everyone, depending on what your life looks like.

My wish in today’s post is to quickly share with you ‘a day in my life’ and hopefully inspire you to take a little bit of time for yourself, whether that is 10 minutes to sit and enjoy your favorite sweet or do your nails!

A perfect ‘self-care day’ consists of three essential elements for me: planning and organizing, practical self-care, and taking rest, so I’ll divide my day into three categories (it does not really matter to me when doing what).

So today was a good day. We woke up around 8 a.m., and A cooked a delicious breakfast. He made some aluu bhaji, which is a Banglaseshi specialty. It’s basically potatoes and yummy spices.

Then, we did some housework, finished unpacking a few more things, and discovered our new home a little bit more. We started the afternoon by taking a nap. I love napping, especially on rainy days like today.

Later on, I decided to make the viral flaxseed gel everyone is talking about lately; I actually used to make it for my hair a while ago. It felt nice to do it again; I haven’t done homemade cosmetics in so long! I made two different batches, one for my hair, to which I added a little bit of olive oil before blending it. And the second one is simply flaxseed gel to apply to my face (I have never used it like that, so I can’t wait to use it later tonight before showering).

I also did my eyebrows; I’ve been doing them on my own for 5+ years with wax strips, and it’s my favorite thing to do! So satisfying! I still haven’t rinsed off my hair yet as I am writing, but once I do, I’ll probably do an ‘everything shower’ and apply the thickest shea butter I own.

The last part of my ‘self-care day’ consists of planning and organizing: checking and updating my calendar, reading and answering my emails if I have any, doing my weekly or daily to-do list, getting ready for tomorrow’s class, planning my outfit, etc. Basically, I plan and prepare for the coming week/day in order to start it the best way possible.

We will end this perfect day by ordering food and watching ‘The Holiday’. Oh, I love days like these!

Today was so relaxing. I don’t have a precise written-down plan for what my self-care days look like. On some days, it’s mostly resting; on others, I will only study, but this is basically what an ideal Sunday looks like for me. It could also mean working out, waking up at 10 and making a brunch with A, or watching TV all afternoon and cozying up. Every day is different; I just do whatever feels right in the moment and with the time I have in my hands.

If you have any homemade mask suggestions, feel free to write me; I’d love to discover some new ones! I wish you an extra-cozy and productive week.

Love,

Garance xx

Banana/honey mask for moisture (just mash bananas until you have a smooth paste). Egg/olive oil mask for strength

This blog came to life as a passion project because I wanted to carve out a cozy corner of the internet where I could dive into the worlds of beauty, homemaking, lifestyle, and relationships while throwing in a bit of heart and soul.
